DTES Chairman Message
Welcome to the newly personalised website of the Design and Technology Educators Society (DTES). Its primary goal is to provide information about our society, its objectives, activities, and plans. I hope that you will find this website to be informative and user-friendly. It also serves as a platform to connect all the practitioners of the subject Design and Technology in the education system.
DTES has organised activities and programmes, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the National Institute of Education before the COVID pandemic. They included the annual Design & Technology conferences, Design & Technology awards, Learn-a-Skill, Meet-a-Designer, Mini Workshops, and the biennial dinner. However, most of these activities stopped during the pandemic period, while some continue with the help of online meeting software like Zoom or Google Meet. Since we have now no longer affected by the restrictions of the pandemic, we can restart all the face-to-face activities. Reviving the activities that provide personal development or recreation to all our DTES members.
DTES continues to welcome all contributions from its members and like-minded professionals to make our activities and programmes relevant to the current market needs and trends. This can further energise and excite the D&T educators to provide more real-world problems for their pupils to tackle, preparing them for the workforce. DTES looks forward to forging many more meaningful partnerships with design professionals of all disciplines who have similar interests or aspirations in furthering the local design education.
On behalf of the DTES Management Committee, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all DTES members and partners of Design & Technology education for their tireless support given to the Society, both in the past and in the future.
I sincerely urge all Design & Technology educators and professional practitioners to sign-up as members and together, we can better mould the future of Singapore’s design community.
In conclusion, DTES will continually strive to provide quality activities and programmes that will prepare our participants for future challenges. We look forward to you growing your involvement in shaping the talents of our future designers and our D&T educators.
